TAYLOR COUNTY—The Taylor County Board of Education is asking for the public’s help with a facilities plan that will guide the county school system for the next 10 years.

In accordance with West Virginia Board of Education Policy 6200: State law requires all 55 West Virginia county school districts to formulate a Comprehensive Education Facilities Plan (CEFP) every 10 years.

The CEFP, provides an overview of every school building within a district, along with information on community demographics, enrollment, curriculum and instructional goals and the personnel and technology needs for that facility.

School Building Authority Director of Architectural Services Ben Ashley reported that the plan basically decides how counties intend to use their facilities in the next 10 years.

“This is big picture planning. We’re asking for them to dream big and to think of big ideas for the delivering of education,” he stated.

Director of Curriculum/Instruction, Federal Programs and Professional Learning Linda Casto shared that they have created a survey for the community to provide their input.

Casto reported that they will be working on the new plan throughout the years and they appreciate the community’s input and help with the process.
